Churup Lagoon full day

Very early in the morning you are picked up from your hotel and transferred towards Pitec hamlet, located 1 hour from Huaraz city, and the start point of the trek. The trail ascents by a ridge, not very steep, in direction to the Churup Peak with views of the Cashan and Shaqsha peaks, followed by a path goes into a canyon where you can appreciate beautiful waterfalls. After 2 or 3 hours walking, you’ll arrive to the most difficult point of the route, a 30 meter ascent without difficulty for a 70° slope (if it is required, the guide will take a rope). Then there is a walk of 20 minutes leading to the lake, where you will have enough time to rest, lunch and take pictures. The descent to Pitec takes about 2 hours; it is the place where the transportation waits to take you back to Huaraz city. In arrival transfer to your hotel.

Very early in the morning you will be transfered from your hotel towards Llanganuco Valley, north of the Callejón. On the way, you can appreciate the magnificent and colorful Callejon de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) with its green fields and white peaks, some of them more than 6000 meters, including the highest mountain in Peru, The Huascaran. During the trip, there will be an explanation about Campo Santo, where Yungay was, a city that disappeared by an avalanche caused by the earthquake in 1970. After that, it starts the ascent to Llanganuco Valley, surrounded by Huandoy, Huascaran, Chacraraju, Chopicalqui, Yanapacha and Pisco Peaks, where you can appreciate its immense turquoise lagoons. From Huaraz city it takes 2 hours to arrive to Cebollapampa Valley, the start point of the trek. After 3 to 4 hours ascending through a fascinating landscape of rivers, waterfalls and mountains, you will arrive to Lake 69, where you will be able to lunch, take pictures and enjoy the spectacular lake and Chacraraju Peak with more than 6000 meters. The descent to Cebollapampa takes from 1 to 2 hours; this is where the car is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival in Huaraz approximately at 6:00 p.m. and transfer to your hotel.

Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel and taken towards north of the Callejón de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley). After a one hour drive, you will arrive in Caraz city and start the ascent by rough tracks to Parón Valley (1or 2 hours). Along the way, you can appreciate the huge rock walls of 1000 meters high. Arrival in the big turquoise lagoon with a great view of Piramide Garcilazo peak. At this point, you start walking always by the left shore of the lake, a trail without any difficulty. After 1or 2 hours you will arrive to the end of the lake, where you can appreciate the impressive pyramid shape peak Artensonraju. This will be a time to rest, lunch, take pictures and enjoy the landscape. Then return to the start point (1 - 2 hours), where the transport is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival in Huaraz and transfer to you hotel.

DAY 1: HUARAZ - OLLEROS – SACRACANCHA (L, D)
Early in the morning, we will departure Huaraz and head towards the south of the Callejón de Huaylas. It is only 30 or 40 minutes drive; you will see the picturesque village of Olleros where the gear is carried on llamas and donkeys. We then begin a tranquil walk for 5 or 6 hours along the shores of Black River (Rio Negro). We will lunch along the river, then continue to the first camp in Sacracancha with a view of Shaqsha, Uruashraju, Rurec and Tuctupunta peaks. Dinner and overnight at campsite.
DAY 2: SACRACANCHA – SHONCOPAMPA (B, L, D)
After a succulent breakfast, 2 to 3 hour climb up to Yanashallash pass (4700 masl) where you can appreciate Huantsan (6395 masl), Rurec (5700 masl) and Uruashraju (5722 masl) peaks. This pass is the dividing line between Callejon de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) and Callejon de Conchucos (Conchucos Valley), where you will find the Chavin de Huantar Temple. From this point, it is possible to see some of the rest of the pre-Inca stone trail that descents in switch-backs. Two or three hours more to arrive at second campsite in Shoncopampa. Dinner and overnight in campsite.
DAY 3: SHONCOPAMPA - CHAVIN DE HUANTAR – HUARAZ (B, L)
Early in the morning, we start the descent to Chavín de Huantar. You can enjoy the colorful open fields, farmers, and picturesque little hamlets on the way. After 5 or 6 hours, we will arrive at the temple. In the afternoon, we will explore the archeological site that boasts underground galleries and temples. Here you can find the amazing Lanzón Monolítico and Estela de Raimondi stones. After the visit, you will return to Huaraz, passing under world’s highest tunnel: Kawish (4516 masl) and past Lake Querococha (3980 masl). Arrival in Huaraz around 9:00 PM and transfer to your hotel or restaurant.

DAY 1: HUARAZ – CHASHAPAMPA – LLAMACORRAL (L, D)
Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Huaraz for a two hours drive to Cashapampa Village, the entrance of Santa Cruz Valley, start point of the trekking. Five or six hours of walking up through a very steep path you will arrive to the first camp, a plain called Llamacorral. Cold lunch is served on the way. From this campsite, you can have your first glimpse of the Taulliraju Peak, which turns into orange colors during the sunset.
DAY 2: LLAMACORRAL – TAULLIPAMPA (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, after a succulent breakfast, start walking through plains full of purple and yellow flowers, until arriving to Ichicoha Lagoon. The walk continues to Jatuncocha, a lagoon of great beauty. After lunch it is possible to climb up for 40 minutes to an excellent view point where you can see the Aguja Peak, Caraz, Artesonraju, Alpamayo and Quitaraju. On the way, which last from 4 to 6 hours, you can also appreciate Taulliraju, Piramide Garcilaso and Paria Peaks. Finally you reach Taullipampa, a plain at the feet of the impressive and steep Taulliraju Peak, a scenery of colossal world climbing feats. Overnight and dinner at the campsite.
DAY 3: TAULLIPAMPA - CACHINAPAMPA (B, L, D)
Very early in the morning, breakfast and start of the greatest challenge of the route, walk up to Punta Union pass at 4,760 meters from sea level. Reaching this point is an inestimable reward: a view of the Santa Cruz Valley surrounded by peaks of 6,000 meters, turquoise lagoons, and the ideal place to take pictures. Then you initiate the descent towards Cachinapampa, a trail where you will pass through a small Quenoal forest and green fields. Cold lunch served on the way. Arrival at the campsite after 6 or 7 seven hours. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4: CACHINAPAMPA - VAQUERÍA - HUARAZ (B, L)
Breakfast and start of the last 2 or 3 hours of trekking. This day you can have a glimpse of the east face of the spectacular Chacraraju peak. The way ascends until arriving to Vaquería, a small hamlet where the bus is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. On the way back, you can stop at the Portachuelo Pass with an excellent view of Chopicalqui, Huascaran, Pisco, Huandoy, Chacraraju Yanapaccha and Llanganuco Lakes. Arrival in Huaraz and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 1: HUARAZ - QUARTELHUAIN – MITOCOCHA (L, D)
Early in the morning pick up from your hotel and transfer towards south of the Callejón de Huaylas to Chiquian Town where the rough tracks start towards Llamac Village and the Quartelhuain (4 hours). From Quartelhuain, a small hamlet, the trail ascents about 2 hours towards Cacananpunta Pass (4685 masl) and then descents for 2 hours more towards Mitococha Lake at the feet of the small Jirishanca and Ninashanca peaks. Taking the normal route you arrive to Janca campsite.
DAY 2: MITOCOCHA – CARHUACOCHA (B, L, D)
Alter breakfast it starts the ascent of 2 to 3 hours to Carhuac Pass (4650 masl) where you can have a glimpse of the small Jirishanca. Then trail goes down towards Carhuacoha Lake in approximately 1 hour, during the trail you appreciate Jirishanca and Yerupaja peaks. Dinner and overnight at the campsite at the shores of the lake.
DAY 3: CARHUACOCHA – HUAYHUASH (B, L, D)
This day there are two options: the first one taking the normal route of the donkeys (4 -5 hours) towards Punta Carnicero Pass (4600 masl) and then descents to Huayhuash campsite and the second option is to climb up Siula Pass (4800 masl) by a steep trail but with a magnificent views of the three turquoise lakes at the feet of Siula Peak (6 -7 hours). On the way, it is also possible to appreciate Carnicerococha Lake at the feet of the impressive Carnicero Peak. Dinner and overnight campsite.
DAY 4: HUAYHUASH – VICONGA (B, L, D)
Early in the morning it starts the ascent to Portachuelo de Huayhuash Pass (4750 masl). On the way you can appreciate Trapecio (5653 masl), Sueroraju (5439 masl) and the Puscanturpas peaks (5550 masl) and the dam-lake of Viconga. Arrival to the campsite in Viconga after 5 or 6 hours. There it is also possible to take a bath in the natural thermal water rivers of Viconga.
DAY 5: VICONGA – HUANACPATAY (B, L, D)
Early in the morning ascent to Cuyoc Pass (5000 masl) very close to Cuyoc Glaciar (3 - 4 hours). Then starts the descent towards Huanacpatay Valley. During the trail you can appreciate Trapecio (5653 masl) and Jurau (5600 masl). Then you can climb up by a steep way to San Antonio point view (3 - 4 hours up and down) where you can appreciate the Jurau Peak and Lake, and then continue for 1 or 2 hours more to Huanacpatay campsite. Dinner and overnight campsite.
DAY 6: HUANACPATAY – HUATIAC (B, L, D)
Early in the morning, you start descending until Huayllapa Town and then it starts the ascent to Huatiac (4 -5 hours). Dinner and overnight campsite.
DAY 7: HUATIAC - LAGUNA JAHUACOCHA (B, L, D)
From Huatiac takes 6 to 7 hours to arrive to Jahuacoha Lake, passing the Tapush Punta (4800 masl) and Yaucha passes (4800 masl). On the way you can appreciate Diablo Mudo, Huacrish (5774 masl) Sacra (5548 masl), Rasac (6017 masl), Yerupaja (6634 masl), Jirishanca (6094 masl) and Rondoy (5870 masl). Dinner and overnight at the campsite at the shores of the lake.
DAY 8: LAGUNA JAHUACOCHA (B, L, D)
Day at leisure to walk around the lake to observe variety of Andean birds, or climb up to the Solteracocha Lake (2-3 hours). There is also the possibility that you can buy a lamp to prepare Pachamanca (typical Peruvian Andean dish of the campesinos where the meat is cooked with firewood and warm stones underground), that cost about 45 soles around US$ 14. Dinner and overnight campsite at the shores of the lake.
DAY 9: LAGUNA JAHUACOCHA - LLAMAC – HUARAZ (B, L)
Early in the morning departure by Pacllón Valley trough a pass of 4300 masl to descent to Llamac Village (4-5 hours), where the transportation waits to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival in Huaraz about 5 PM and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 2: BASE CAMP - SUMMIT - BASE CAMP (5530 masl )
A light breakfast, then you put your gear on and start of the ascent at 2 or 3 AM. The time of arrival to the summit depends on the acclimation and physical conditions of the participants (5 to 8 hours). In arrival to the summit, time to rest and take pictures of the Tocllaraju, Palcaraju and Ranrapalca. The descent to the base camp can be done in 3 or 4 hours. DAY 2: CEBOLLAPAMPA - BASE CAMP (4000 - 4665 masl)
Early the load is carried on mules and after breakfast it starts the ascent to the base camp (4 - 5 hours) allowing you to enjoy the landscape. Overnight and dinner at campsite. BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 3: BASE CAMP - SUMMIT BASE - CAMP (4665 - 5752 masl)
At 1:00 am, after a fast breakfast, it starts the ascent to the glacier passing first trough the moraine camp. Walking in the glacier there are beautiful views of the perfect pyramid Artesonraju (6025 masl). After 6 to 8 hours you arrive to the summit where you have the unparalleled views of very steep peaks of the White Range such us Chacraraju (6112 masl) and Huandoys (6356 masl). Some minutes in the summit to rest and take pictures, and then return to the base Camp (4 - 6 hours), where a big dinner is waiting for you. The route is very simple; there is only one wall of 45°. DAY 4: BASE CAMP - CEBOLLAPAMPA - HUARAZ

Departing Huaraz early, your private transportation will take you north through The Callejón de Huaylas (Huaylas Valley) to Mancos Town. From here a further 11/2 hours on rough tracks takes you to your start point at Musho Village. Your mules will be waiting at Musho to transport the kit to Base Camp (4-5 hours) allowing you to enjoy the superb views of the Cordillera Negra (Black Range). Overnight and dinner at campsite. DAY 2: BASE CAMP - CAMP I (4,500 - 5,500 MASL)

DAY 3: CAMP I - CAMP II (5,500 - 6,100 MASL)
An early start leads up snow slopes to your first obstacle, an ice crack. There follows a glacial walk to Camp II (Garganta or Throat Camp). BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 4: CAMP II - SUMMIT - CAMP I OR BASE CAMP
The final push to the summit begins at 01:00 or 02:00 hours. It can be cold start down -20°C, if there is a strong wind. Once at the summit (after 6 - 7 hours) you are rewarded with unparalleled views of the White Range, knowing that you have the descent to either Camp I or Base Camp will cap off the adventure of a life time. Overnight and dinner at campsite. BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 5: CAMP II OR BASE CAMP - MUSHO - HUARAZ
After breakfast, start the descent towards Musho Village where the transportation waits to take you back to Huaraz city. In arrival (4 - 6 PM), transfer to your lodging.
One more day might be needed in case of bad weather or to rest. In that case there is an additional price for extra day.

Descent from Portachuelos |

Early departure from Huaraz, towards Llanganuco Valley. During the way you can appreciate Campo Santo (a city buried by an avalanche), the fabulous Llanganuco Lakes and Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, Huandoy and Pisco Peaks. Arrival to Portachuelo pass approximately in 3 hours and start of the descent in rough tracks, 32 switch backs to get to Chinancocha Lake, where you can rest and then continue to Huashao, a village where the transportation waits to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Descent from Paron Lake |

In the morning transfer towards north of the Callejón de Huaylas until Caraz city, where the rough tracks start to Paron Valley. Arrival to the Paron Lake (4200 m) after 2½ hours, where you have a magnificent view of the Piramide Garcilaso Peak. Then it starts the descent through the valley between its huge rock walls, being the most impressive “La Esfinge”, a challenge of 5325 masl for rock climbing fans around the world. You arrive to Caraz city after 4 hours, where the transportation waits to take you back to Huaraz city. In arrival transfer to your hotel.

Descent from Punta Cayan – Huaraz |

Early in the morning you are picked up from your hotel and transfer to Punta Cayán (4200 masl) 1½ hours from Huaraz in the Black Range, where there is a magnificent spectacle of the mountains from the White Range. Then it starts the amazing descent by bike for about 2 hours until arriving to Huaraz city.

Descent from Punta Cayan – Pariacoto |

Departure from Huaraz very early towards Punta Cayán (4200 m.) in the Black Range where there is an unparallel view of the White Range. Then it starts the descent towards Pariacoto Town (600 m.) west side of the Black Range in the costal region. It is a long descent in rough tracks with hundreds of switch backs, sometimes close to high cliffs, and with beautiful views of green fields and clean rivers where you can take a bath. The transportation that goes close to the mountain bikers the whole time will be waiting in Pariacoto Town where you can rest and lunch before starting the way back to Huaraz city. Arrival in Huaraz after 3 hours and transfer to your hotel.
